Wetsuit Caps & Hoods
Wetsuit hoods and wetsuit caps are designed to provide thermal insulation and protect the head in mild to cold water conditions. These accessories are crucial for maintaining warmth, especially in colder waters where heat loss is significant. Divers commonly wear a SCUBA wetsuit hood for protection, but surfers, kayakers, and other water enthusiasts also wear wetsuit hoods or wetsuit caps for head and ear warmth and protection.
Neoprene hoods are available in various thicknesses, allowing users to tailor their choice based on water temperature. Caps and hoods in the 0.5mm to 2mm range are suitable for warm to mild waters (above 70°F or 21°C) and provide minimal insulation, which is ideal for preventing sun exposure and minor chill. Wetsuit hoods that are 3mm thick are appropriate for temperate waters (60-70°F or 15-21°C) and offer a balance between insulation and flexibility. Lastly, hoods and wetsuit caps that are 4mm to 5mm thick are designed for colder waters (below 60°F or 15°C) and provide enhanced insulation to combat significant heat loss in cold conditions.
